WELCOME TO UNION COUNTY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION

We are a community of 29 Southern Baptist Churches in Union County, SC who are committed to partnering together to extend Christ's Kingdom in Union County and to the ends of the earth.  We believe that we can do far more for the Kingdom by working together than we can alone.  We are blurring territorial lines, and taking our names off of our own programs in order to cooperate like never before by standing side-by-side and heart-in-heart to advance the glory of Christ among all peoples.

We believe that God is at work in His Church today.  We seek to submit to His Lordship in all things and be witnesses of His greatness revealed in and through His people.  We yearn for the day when the words of the Lord through His prophet Habakkuk will come to fruition: "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea."

Habakkuk 2:14 (NIV)

Highly Recommended Book to Read

The Insanity of God by Nik Ripken

In the chapter about lies we believe and perpetuate about missions, Nik writes the following:  The lie is, “The primary way we support work among the unreached in our church is through our financial giving.  As long as we give money, we have fulfilled our responsibility for the Nations.”

Nik’s response, in part – “...Missions can become something the church does, rather than defining who the church is...Does the church pray “for” the missionaries or does it pray “with” the missionaries?...Giving and praying “for” something implies distance, a disconnect.  Praying and giving “with” overseas works implies a shared burden, a shared ministry, and a shared task unto the ends of the earth.”

So convicting!
